Angel Du$t stopped through Indianapolis’ Turntable recently bringing their unique blend of punk, rock, and pure fun to the stage. If you’re not familiar with these folks, sit down for a sec—this band is anything but ordinary.

Angel Du$t was formed in 2015/2016 by singer Justice Tripp after disbanding his already successful hardcore band, Trapped Under Ice. Tripp needed to lighten things up a bit, and Angel Du$t became his outlet for exploring a more playful and eclectic sound. The band has had a rotating cast of members over the years, but one standout is drummer Daniel Fang, who also plays for Turnstile.

Angel Du$t’s sound is hard to pin down—and that’s exactly the point. Justice Tripp once said, “We just want to be ourselves. We like anime and puppies and stupid shit like that”. Their music reflects this ethos, blending upbeat melodies with hardcore influences and unexpected elements like saxophone solos and acoustic guitar riffs. Their 2019 album Pretty Buff pushed their unconventional style even further, incorporating poppier and more fun territory. Tracks like “Bang My Drum” and “Big Ass Love” showcase their ability to mix genres and create music that’s both sincere and refreshing.

The band’s aesthetic is equally eclectic. They’ve been described as a group that defies cynicism and embraces positivity, uniting diverse audiences through their sheer exuberance and excellent musicianship. Whether they’re playing alongside ultra-heavyweights like Power Trip, or melodic acts like Turnstile, Angel Du$t has a knack for bridging gaps and bringing people together.

Reception to Angel Du$t has been overwhelmingly positive, with fans and critics alike praising their crossover appeal. Their ability to attract different audiences and explore unknown territory has made them a standout in the punk and hardcore scenes. As Tripp explained, “We’re definitely so fortunate to have that, where people are willing to go with us somewhere different and explore unknown territory”. This willingness to experiment and evolve has earned them a loyal following and cemented their place as one of the most innovative bands in the genre.

Angel Du$t’s live performances are nothing short of electrifying. Their energy, enthusiasm, and sincerity on stage create an unforgettable experience for fans. As they continue to tour and release new music, Angel Du$t remains a shining example of what happens when artists dare to be different and embrace their true selves.

If you missed their show at Turntable, don’t worry—Angel Du$t’s music is always ready to bring the party to you. Whether you’re a hardcore fan or just looking for something new, this band doesn't disappoint.
